Aftermath: Coming Down The MountainSample

Aftermath: Coming Down The Mountain

DAY 1 OF 14

From Mountain to Mess

Have you ever experienced incredible mountain top moments with God? Maybe it was at a retreat, a conference, or camp; all you know is, you had an encounter with God that changed you. But what happened when you came down the mountain? You came down changed, but the world you returned to is unchanged.

Moses went through the same thing. He was up on the mountain and God spoke to him through a burning bush. God asked Moses to help Him free the Israelites from slavery. Moses came down with a passion and a conviction to do what God asked him to do, but things got worse before they got better. He spoke for God saying, “Let my people go!” The Egyptians were outraged and treated the slaves worse than ever!

Everyone came against Moses, blaming him for what was happening to them. Moses doubted himself and that he had actually heard from God. Rather than give up, Moses continued on and pressed forward, in spite of his struggles and doubts! He kept doing what God asked him to do and then, it happened! God delivered the Israelites from the Egyptians!

What if Moses gave up when things got hard? What if he had allowed the doubts and the critics at the bottom of the mountain to keep him from doing what God had told him to do on top of the mountain?

When we have incredible God moments, things in our lives can prevent us from pushing through to seeing God's will accomplished. As you reflect on all God has done on the mountain tops, may you be encouraged and inspired to press through in spite of doubt, temptation, struggle or fear!

Challenge:

  1. Write down what God has spoken to you in the mountaintop experiences. It’s important to remember what God has done in your life.

  2. Do you believe what God spoke to you is true? If so, keep pressing on! If not, ask God to reconfirm it in your heart! Finish this devotional to help you with doubt, worry, temptation and stay on track!

  3. PRAY: Lord, thank you for the mountaintop experiences in my life. Help me to press on with what you have spoken to me. Help me when I doubt. Amen.
