The new covenant

Welcome back to day 4, you are on a roll!

Yesterday, we saw how God lost His people to the influence of Satan yet again. God had to start over. This time, He spoke through a group of people known as the prophets to promise a coming savior who would establish a new covenant. The books of prophecy are the bridge between the Old and New Testaments. After being separated from God, God sends prophecies so that when they are fulfilled, His people will recognize God’s work in fulfilling them and believe (John 14:29).

Today, we will see how the prophecies about the new covenant and many others were fulfilled. In other words, we will see how God kept His promises to those who belong to Him. As we read the following verses, we see that Jesus came and opened the door of salvation for those who believed in Him, Jews and Gentiles alike, and gave them the right to become children of God.

Jesus established the new covenant in His blood, promising it would be fulfilled and kept in the coming kingdom at the time of His second coming. By becoming Christians, we vowed we would keep God’s and Jesus’s words so we could become their family and home. This is what God has been working towards for the last 6,000 years!

Jesus gave us the prophecies and promises of the New Testament so we can believe in their fulfillment when it appears. God promised that if we write His words on our hearts and minds, we will be blessed in His coming kingdom where there will be no more sin, death, crying, mourning, or pain. It sounds almost too good to be true! But because God is the one making this promise, we know that He will fulfill it.

How do we receive these blessings? We must keep the New Testament promises by believing when they are fulfilled. This is how we show love to God and to Jesus according to John 14:23.

Just like in Exodus, we need to become His people, His kingdom and His priests. Upon doing so, God and His dwelling place in the spiritual realm will return and dwell among us here on this earth. This is the final restoration of the world to its original form before sin and death entered the world.
