21 Days of Prayer & FastingIsampula
In Spirit & Truth
I love The Passion Translation's way of putting John 4:23-24.
"From here on, worshiping the Father will not be a matter of the right place but with the right heart. For God is a Spirit, and he longs to have sincere worshipers who worship and adore him in the realm of the Spirit and in truth.”
When God gave us the gift of expressing our devotion to Christ freely through our lives of worship, it was a gift paid for by Jesus' death. The Gospel of Matthew describes the moment that everything changed so powerfully in Chapter 27.
Everything that had separated us from God would never again be an issue. NOTHING can separate us from Him. Until then, there was so much law in the way of personal worship. Even as King David challenged everything in the way worship was expressed, Jesus still had to make a way so that God's presence was now not in a place for us to go to, but His presence was now amongst us, in us, and through us. Never again determined by OUR actions but by HIS GOODNESS.
If ever you feel ‘not good enough’ to stand before a most Holy God and pray, well, this is where the enemy has a field day. But this is where God's great grace is revealed again and again to us. And Hebrews 13:15 spells it out for us; "THROUGH HIM let us offer up to God the sacrifice of praise, which is the fruit of our lips, giving THANKS to His name." (Emphasis Added)
THROUGH JESUS. Not on what we have or haven’t done. Let's pray together that we will be a people who always remember the price that was paid for us to come freely, boldly, and wholeheartedly before God in prayer.
