Birds are often thought of as carefree creatures, flying through the air with the greatest of ease, without a trapeze! Jesus uses the birds to make some important points about how much more your Father in heaven takes care of you. Worry and the accompanying anxiety will not add anything to your life.
PRAY: OK, Lord, I know you love me and care for me and so today I begin to wean myself from worry.
READ: Think about the distance between you and worry as you read Jesus’s words of comfort in Matthew.
REFLECT: Consider your value to God in comparison to the birds. How about the flowers that are here today and gone tomorrow? What does God do for the birds and the flowers? What do you think God will do for you?
RESPOND: Thinking back over the past seven days, what promise from the Bible will help you the most in overcoming anxiety?
