GOD OF THE IMPOSSIBLE
So often, situations in life look impossible. Relationships appear impossible to mend. Marriages seem impossible to restore. Loss feels impossible to comprehend. I’ve known this to be true over and over again in my own life. In fact, my story is pieced together by moments when I thought something was impossible, but then God stepped in and made the impossible, possible.
In fact, He specializes in the impossible because that’s simply who He is. It’s in His DNA.
God of the impossible / You are who You are
The New Living Translation interprets Luke 1:37 in a unique way, saying, “For the word of God will never fail.” This translation ties God’s relationship to the impossible with His word, reminding us that He can be trusted. He is faithful to keep every promise.
It’s really all about our perspective. In the Gospel of Matthew, Jesus is talking to His disciples about salvation. The Bible says He looked at them intently and said, “Humanly speaking, it is impossible. But with God everything is possible” (Matthew 19:26, NLT).
In our humanity, our vision is short-sighted. There’s only so much of the bigger picture we can see. But God is painting a massive, beautiful masterpiece with our lives. We may only be able to see a fraction of the incredible — seemingly impossible — work He’s up to, but it doesn’t mean He isn’t working.
Against immeasurable odds, He promises in Isaiah 43:2 (NLT): “When you go through deep waters, I will be with you. When you go through rivers of difficulty, you will not drown. When you walk through the fire of oppression, you will not be burned up; the flames will not consume you.”
We will not drown. We will not be burned. We will not be consumed. Why? Because He is the God of the impossible.
Let’s start looking for miracles and expecting God to do the extraordinary. He is more capable than you can imagine to lead you down whatever Red Sea road you may be facing. Just wait for Him to part the waters.
Today, whether you find yourself on a mountaintop or in a valley, let this be the song of your heart: You can do all things / Even in the valley still my heart will sing / You can do all things / Nothing is impossible for You.

Our God is the God of the impossible! He is always at work, looking for opportunities to perform miracles. I’ve found this to be true in my own life, so I wrote some songs about God doing the impossible. This devotional series centers around seven songs from my album, God of the Impossible . I hope you walk away from this devo series refreshed and expectant, trusting in the unwavering faithfulness of God. Believing the impossible - Lincoln Brewster
