Day 3: Esther

Esther, whose birth name was Hadassah, was a Jewish orphan girl who hid her Jewish identity under the instruction of her cousin Mordecai. When the King was looking for a replacement Queen, Esther was taken into the King's palace with the other potential candidates, where she was highly favored, eventually taking the position of queen. When Mordecai heard of the King’s top official’s plot to kill all of the Jews, he called on his cousin Queen Esther who had a life-threatening decision to make.

Would she risk her life by approaching the King and sharing her true identity to save her people or would she keep quiet and watch thousands of Jews be killed?

Esther went against all odds and acted with bravery and courage, and asked the King to spare the lives of her people. And the King did just that! He honored her request. Her selfless decision to accept the difficult task at hand resulted in the lives of all Jews being saved.

Perhaps she was created for such a time as this!

Have you ever been in a situation where you had to take a stand for what was right in order to help someone else? If so, reflect on the events surrounding that decision and the specific role that you played. What was the outcome?

Although not mentioned by name, the providence of God is seen throughout the book of Esther. He positions us in the places that He needs us to be in order to fulfill an assignment or kingdom agenda. Ask God to reveal to you the reason why you may be planted in a particular role, position, or season.

Listen and take note as to what you can do to impact or advance His agenda in this season that you are in.
