Who Is God? Exploring the Attributes of God預覽
Eternal Presence
Life is hard. I have had hard seasons in life that seemed to last forever. It seems like yesterday I was graduating from college and struggling to find a job. The search time for employment seemed like years, and I was getting discouraged. I went on dozens of interviews but never heard back. I was unsure if I would ever find a job. In time, I did finally secure a job!
Hard seasons come and go. They feel like they last forever, but they always end. Nothing in our life lasts forever except God. God has always existed. God is eternal. He always was and always will be. Genesis 1:1 tells us, “In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.” (NLT)
Note the phrase “In the beginning God……” God was there from the start. He has no beginning or end. If He did, He would not be God. God is not bound by time, yet He sees and acts within time. He can see the past, present, and future equally. Nothing ever takes God by surprise.
God knows and will take care of our future when we go through tough seasons.
Ephesians 1:4-5 says, “Even before he made the world, God loved us and chose us in Christ to be holy and without fault in his eyes. God decided in advance to adopt us into his own family by bringing us to Himself through Jesus Christ. This is what he wanted to do, and it gave him great pleasure.” (NLT) God’s love and care reaches farther than we can imagine. God is always with us, regardless of circumstances.
We can rest in the fact that before we were born, God secured our redemption through Christ. If God can secure our eternal future, we can trust Him to carry us through our present trouble.
Reflect:
What struggle are you facing right now that seems to be lasting forever?
How can knowing that God is eternal help you in your present struggle?
