Substitutionary Atonement
These two big words simply mean someone else takes the rap. It’s our fault; our problem. But by the amazing grace and mercy of God, Christ’s death at Calvary pays the penalty on our behalf. His blood instead of mine; the nails pierced his hands, not mine. As a result not only were my sins forgiven, but Christ was given a much-deserved, preeminent place in the throne room of heaven, ‘crowned with glory and honour’ forever. Hallelujah.
Prayer: Father God, thank you for the divine exchange – Christ’s righteousness for my unrighteousness. Today, in my mind’s eye I see Jesus exalted, given his rightful place in glory because of his sacrifice on Calvary. Forever may his name be praised! In Jesus' Name, Amen.
