Rare Righteousness
The centurion watching and presumably in charge of the execution makes a profound observation – surely this was a righteous man. What was it exactly that forced him to this conclusion? How many deaths had he seen as a Roman officer? In what way was this one so different that he was awestruck by seven final words and the last few hours of a dying man? Being righteous is doing the right thing, following the Father’s will completely and passionately, right to the end. Rare, indeed.
Prayer: Father God, thank you for substituting Christ’s righteousness for my own unrighteousness. In myself, I’m a lost cause – in Him, I have freedom, power, salvation and redemption. Help me to spread the message of Calvary to those I meet today. Help me to live out Christ’s righteousness in my life. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
