The Divine Potter

O Lord, you are our Father. We are the clay, and you are the potter. We all are formed by your hand. (Isaiah 64:8, NLT)

When Rebecca was a little girl, she loved to listen to her Dad tell her the stories from the Old Testament. They spoke to her sweet heart, and her trust in God’s promises gave her strength for the days ahead.

She placed her life in the divine potter’s hands and allowed Him to make something beautiful out of the furnace of her trials. Rebecca wrote,

“I see the trials in my life as tests from God. That God is in control! I’m not!”

One catastrophic trial was that suddenly and tragically, at the age of 24, Rebecca was told she was slowly losing her sight! She wrote,

“O God! Let your hand mold me. I thank you that you are enough light for each step, even though I don’t understand this. But I do understand the new things you have allowed me to see, one of which is, I am a great sinner and that Christ is a great savior. You know me best! You know what is best! I trust you with my life!”

I watched Rebecca handle this unbelievable news with such grace, strength and dignity. She had a profound trust in God, no matter what she faced; it was always in her heart to give God the glory.

We believed with Rebecca, that one day God would heal her eyes.

Selah

As the clay is in the potter’s hand, so are you in mine. (Jeremiah 18:6, NLT)

Never, ever, give up! Instead of saying, “I can’t believe that God would allow this,” surrender your life into the hands of the divine potter. God is sovereign and He is in control. Whatever you are facing, you have the power to choose which direction your heart will take. Allow God to mold your life for something that will last forever and ever, to bring Him all the glory.

What do you need to surrender to the divine potter?

Passing the Baton:

Even when you face disappointment or discouragement, run with grace, strength, beauty and dignity. Allow God to make something beautiful out of the furnace of your trials. He never let’s go of you.

Rebecca’s Prayer:

Dear Heavenly Father, I place my life in your hands and I ask that you would mold and make my heart sensitive to you – bend me! I ask for wisdom to know and accomplish the work you want me to do and to glorify your unmatched name through my life. Amen.
