Throne Room

What do you picture when you try to imagine a throne room? Do you think of a vast stately hall with high ceilings, adorned with intricate carvings and paintings depicting its kingdom's history and grandeur? How about massive columns? Vaulted ceilings? Guards standing at attention ready to defend their king?

How about a rainbow, flashes of lightning, or peals of thunder? Do you picture creatures covered in eyes with six wings singing songs of worship to their king? Check out our scripture in the book of Revelation to see what John saw when he was invited into the Throne Room of the Most High!

Read Revelation 4:11.

John was invited into an awesome sight. He got to experience worship in the presence of the King of Kings! What an honor! Imagine finding yourself back home after that and wanting to recreate the excitement of worshipping with these sights, sounds, and feelings. While the actual throne room of our Creator would be difficult to duplicate, we don’t have to be magically transported by the Spirit to worship our Father.

Be Bold

Look back at the description of what the creatures and the 24 were doing and saying. What does this passage tell you about God’s character? Write down your thoughts in your journal or share them with your small group.

What can you do in your own time of worship to respond to God and honor Him? Is there something you can do with your small group to recreate a small-scale Throne Room? You don’t need singing creatures or rainbows to experience God’s majesty. How will you worship Him today?
