Prayers From the Bible Part 1預覽
Hannah's prayer
Read 1 Samuel 2:1–10
I pray you’ll be encouraged by Hannah’s prayers and her relationship with God, which are shared with us in 1 Samuel 1 and 2. Even if you’re familiar with 1 Samuel 1, I encourage you to read it afresh. Hannah is pouring out her soul to God. All her hope is deferred, her grief, shame, and despair, yet she leaves God’s presence in peace—God hears her cry and answers her prayer.
‘My heart rejoices in the Lord! The Lord has made me strong. Now I have an answer for my enemies; I rejoice because you rescued me’ (1 Samuel 2:1b). Now we see the boldness of Hannah’s faith – she entrusts the answer to the cry of her heart, the answer to her prayer, back to God. In peace, leaving her heart at His feet again.
‘… For all the earth is the Lord’s, and he has set the world in order. He will protect his faithful ones, but the wicked will disappear in darkness… No one will succeed by strength alone’ (1 Samuel 2:8b–9).
Hannah trusts God. Trusts His plans for her, her answered prayer and the future.
When we’ve been in a season of trusting God and finally see the breakthrough, it can be tempting to cling to the answered prayer rather than to the God who answered it.
Today, let’s renew our hearts and remind ourselves of our first love. And find boldness in this second mighty prayer from Hannah.
