The Body of Christ
Paul uses the imagery of the body to describe the church. In 1 Corinthians 12:12 emphasizes that we’re one body. Though we’re made of different parts, we’re one. The problem with the Corinthian church was division. But Paul clearly says though we have different gifts, but it’s the same Spirit. Though different ministries but we serve one Lord, and it is the same God who empowers us. Just like a human body, the parts work together, not independently or antagonistic to one another, but they work together to form a whole. Each part functions in its unique way to keep the body healthy. Similarly, we as different parts of the body of Christ need each other to live the life God designed and to grow in maturity in Christ.
Prayer: Holy Spirit, fill us with your love and understanding of God’s word. So that we may know how to accomplish Your will in our church, in our ministry and in our lives. Let us grow in humility and the likeness of Christ, and bring glory to the Father. Amen.
