“Don’t Ever Stop” Devotional
Passion feat. Chris Tomlin
Whatever is true/ Whatever is right/ Whatever is pure/ Whatever is light/ Lead me in Your way everlasting/ Don’t ever stop/ Don’t ever stop
Do you ever wonder how to discover the places God is at work closest to you? He is unfolding a beautiful story every day all around us, and He invites us to be a part of the incredible narrative He’s writing. So how do we find Him?
In Philippians, Paul writes that we should be about things that are good: “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.” (Phil. 4:7-9, NLT)
It’s in the things that are lovely, true and beautiful where we find God. He’s investing into the facets of life that are pure, and we should set our sights on the same, intentionally filling our minds and hearts with things that are praise-worthy.
Our thoughts wield a far greater power over us than we assume. If our thought-life is cluttered with inappropriate images, judgmental thoughts and hateful attitudes, these unseemly perspectives will eventually filter down to our heart which can later lead to action. However, if we set our mind on things that edify us instead of things that tear us (or others) down, we plant seeds of purity in our heart, which leads to authentic action—the type of action worthy to be used by God for His purposes.
Romans 12:2 advises, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—His good, pleasing and perfect will.” (NIV)
He gives our lives meaning by giving us work that’s significant for the Kingdom—if we only dare look for it. If we seek what is honorable, we’ll find Him there, already at work, eager for us to take His hand and join Him.
From the beginning, Jesus makes it clear that there’s only one way to embark on this journey. John 14:6 says, “Jesus told him, ‘I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” (NLT)
When we decide to follow Christ and accept that His path is best, then we can start looking for opportunities to be a part of Kingdom work. Not sure where to start? Try focusing on the things that are beautiful, true and noble. That’s where we’ll find God. That’s where we’ll discover our worth. That’s where we’ll meet other like-minded individuals, and that’s where we’ll find meaningful work.
Where You lead me I will go/ Keep me on the narrow road/ You’re the way/ And I will follow
