Enforcing You: Activating Your Kingdom Identity in Christ预览
“He feeds on ashes; a deceived heart hath turned him aside, that he cannot deliver his soul, nor say, is there not a lie in my right hand?”
Isaiah 44:20
This verse is a reminder that we struggle with core lies that feed into who we become. And, even though it may feel as though those lies have a hold on us, it is important to note that this verse states that we are actually holding onto them! A core lie feels so captivating because our flesh or our personality often gets molded around that lie, and it becomes “a part of us.”
This is why we often don’t recognize the lie, even though we are gripping it so tightly with our hands! Furthermore, to think about letting go of that lie can feel frightening because it means we “lose” a part of who we are and the comfort of the familiarity of the lie. We know what to expect and we know how to respond; it is our norm, albeit often a miserable norm.
Many of you might be reading this right now and thinking, “I don’t have any lies. I have been set free from them all.” However, you don’t know what you don’t know. If you think you don’t have any core lies, you could be deceived. Be willing to recognize that many negative emotions, thoughts, or behaviors are typically tied to a core lie. Let’s take a moment to discover any core lies about who we are.
Ask yourself these questions:
- How would you describe yourself?
- How would others describe you?
- How would God describe you?
Now ask yourself these questions:
- Which description do you agree with the most?
- Which one are you most influenced by?
We have a reality that we live in that comes with many opinions. But there is another Voice that speaks and that is the voice of God. The question is which one is navigating your life. Moreover, which one is defining who you are?
If fear is keeping you from taking that leap of faith, you might be living a lie. If the opinion of your friend is causing insecurity, you might be living a lie. If your divorce is keeping you from engaging in relationships, you might be living a lie. If you feel like you can’t say “no” you might be living a lie. You catch the drift!
Let’s be courageous together declare the exposure of core lies as well as the releasing of them. “God, I declare that TODAY you will illuminate places in my heart and mind where I am persuaded by anything other than you. I declare that as core lies are exposed, I will choose to break my agreement with them and let them go."
