Through Her Eyes: A Call to Extravagant Devotion That Defies Culture预览
The Vile of Religion
She worshipped Jesus in her style.
She gave up something that's of worth because she loved Jesus.
Judas spoke as though he cared about the poor but his motives were wrong.
Judas’ response was religious. It was about the outward. It was all about performance.
Mary has seen love personified. God in flesh. She knew He was deserving of her worship, so she came to Him with her best.
Judas, self-focused and self-absorbed, was all about prohibition. He sat in the place of judgement to tell what he thought was acceptable and what was not acceptable. He dared to call what another offered to the Lord a waste.
But Jesus knew their hearts. He upheld Mary because He was the focus of her love.
Let's not use religion as an instrument for prejudice, substituting judgement yet calling it holiness.
Get out of tradition and get into His love.
If we let Him, His love can pierce a heart of stone.
He is enough and it means that we are enough. No tricks needed to please him. Surrender your gimmicks, let his love find you.
Challenge:
Pray that God opens your eyes to those areas of your life where you worship yourself instead of Jesus. Write them down and surrender it to Jesus.
