WHAT ARE YOU COMMUNICATING?
In the midst of a crisis, what we communicate as a church and as children of God is of utmost importance. How we respond to the authorities when they implement preventative measures speaks volumes about us. And the way we carry the burden to help others in the midst of need speaks more than our preaching.
What are you communicating?
Today's verse reminds us of the power of our words. We live in a time when a word written from a cell phone can travel all over the world through social media. Are you using your resources to be a blessing or to spread fear and negativity?
Let's not waste the platforms we have available today, let's be a blessing to those who are watching us.
We all live surrounded by challenges on a daily basis and being people of faith does not free us from going through difficult situations, but it does strengthen us in the midst of everything we face day after day.
We see in Job the example of a man who suffered, who had to go through storms and difficulties. But in the midst of those situations he never lost his faith or retreated. He may have questioned some things, but he never gave up. He cultivated an unshakable faith that made him keep his eyes fixed on God's faithfulness.
When you are in the midst of difficulty, what do you focus your eyes on - what you cannot do or what God can do?
We see in Job 1:21-22 that, after being questioned in his faith even by his friends and his wife, he declares, "Naked I came out of my mother's womb, and naked I must go. The Lord has given; the Lord has taken away. Blessed be the name of the Lord!"
In spite of everything, Job did not sin nor did he blame God. His life was shaken, but his faith remained strong and intact, his eyes fixed on the Lord during all the time of trials and difficulties.
In view of the situation you are facing today, what is your declaration?
Let us be the eyes that see the possibility in the midst of difficulty, and the lips that proclaim good news even in the darkest places.
