Salvation Bargains
Key Thought
What is it about us humans that loves a bargain? It's like a game for so many of us. We probably don't even need the item sometimes, but we love the conquest and victory of a price war.
I wonder if it's not developing in us a misunderstanding between the cost and the value. We drive a bargain down because we are not willing to pay the price of what we are being told it will cost. When a retailer is too quick to drop the price, it actually lessons the value.
This experience is so common that we tend to get upset with a retailer who will not bargain their prices. When someone stands by their price we are shocked. But haven’t you noticed, it also confirms the value of what we tried to bargain. The problem is that we want the highest value of an item at a much lower cost. So we devalue the product to bring the price down, only to leave and boast about how great a deal we got.
The value of salvation for all us humans came at a great price, Jesus, the Christ of God. The cost to us is a full and complete surrender. Nobody can enjoy the free gift of life with God without the full surrender of their life to Jesus.
Could it be that we want the Christian life to cost us less than what it's really worth?
Time To Think
What benefits of Christianity do I want to receive without the cost of changing?
Prayer
Father, help me to understand the value of eternal life by showing me the cost it was to You to save me. Thank you for Your salvation, Your life and Your forgiveness. Help me to never devalue what You have done for me by resisting the change to become like You. Amen.

When we surrender to Jesus He changes us in a moment but we are still being changed everyday to become more like Him. This devotion deals with the everyday, ordinary changes that we all face in becoming more Christ-like. We are changed and changing still.
