Rise Up & Stand Firm—A Study of 1 Peter (Part 3)Àpẹrẹ
Christ’s Suffering, Our Rescue
Great job completing the third part of our 1 Peter study! After you finish today, remember to subscribe to the final part of our study. Now, let’s dig into today’s text and discover some treasures.
Pray:
Holy Spirit, I love You. Please keep me focused on You and teach me today.
Today’s Goal:
Gain a better understanding of who God is and what He has done for us through Jesus.
Study Tip:
Without a doubt, verses 19 and 20 are some of the more difficult Scriptures to interpret. I did my own research through six different Bible commentaries, and I saw four potential interpretations. Consider doing your own research if you’d like. My conclusion is that while we will not know the full extent of these verses’ meaning on this side of Heaven, we can grasp its overall theme: God’s redemptive salvation plan through Christ has been proclaimed throughout all humanity!
Read and Write:
Quickly review your notes from the previous day so that you can gain a better understanding of how these verses connect. Next, read through 1 Peter 3:18-22. Prepare to take notes.
- Make a list or mark up everything you learn about Christ Jesus.
- What is the main message of 2 Peter 2:4-9? Try writing a one-sentence summary of it.
- How might this apply to Noah’s ark being a symbol of our baptism and salvation? (Note: Water baptism is an outward ritual or symbol of our true inner spirit’s baptism by the Holy Spirit.)
Reflect:
- What has God brought you through? Spend some time thanking God for your freedom and deliverance through Christ.
Apply:
- Based on today’s lesson, in what way will you rise up and stand firm?
