Act Like You Belong There
A young man arrived at the airport at a pretty decent time to catch his flight back home. The security checkpoint lines were wrapped around the corner, and to make matters worse, the TSA was short staffed. If you're a frequent flier, you know exactly what this is a recipe for—a missed flight with a side of frustration.
Things were hectic and he'd already accepted the possibility of missing his flight. Thankfully, he made it to the gate with just a few minutes to spare before the boarding door closed. The agent printed out a new boarding pass with a new seat assignment. The new seat was located directly behind First Class, but because he knew he purchased an economy ticket and hadn't requested an upgrade, he trekked towards the back of the plane searching for a seat he'd already passed.
Sounds silly to walk past a seat that you know belongs to you, right? But that's exactly what so many of us do when God gives us something that we think is too good to be true or simply too good to be ours.
After being redirected by a flight attendant to his upgraded seat in the front of the plane, the “walk of shame” yielded some valuable realizations for the young man: 1.) It may appear that you're running late, but you'll always be on time for what is meant for you. 2.) While you're at the back of the line, fearful that you won't make it to your destination, God is preparing an upgrade for you. 3.) God performs His best work in the thick of chaos.
Perhaps the biggest takeaway is: when God prepares a seat for you, act like you belong there—because you do.
Prayer: Father God, thank you for the favor that you have allowed to surround me everywhere that I go. Today, and everyday, the favor of the Lord will prepare seats and tables for me. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
