Choosing Faith Over Fearنمونہ
Day 1: Fear Lies
We all know the Zach William’s song, right? Every time I have read the title of this day, I always want to belt out, “Fear, he is a liar!” In all seriousness though, if you have heard that song, you’ve probably sang it in your car time and time again and have yet to really think about the words. The truth, however, is that fear is indeed a liar.
I want you to think about the last time you tried something difficult or new and try to remember the emotions that greeted you. More than likely you felt excited and determined. Then it happens, fear shows up unknowingly and unwanted. The excitement is replaced with anxiety. The determination is replaced with doubt. We forget our worth in God and believe the lies that fear yells at us.
We read in Psalms 139:14 that we are called to praise God because we are fearfully and wonderfully made. When we choose to believe what God says about us, the lies of the world become quieter. When we stand firm in God’s truth, it becomes more difficult for the world to displace our calling. The more we desire to know God, the better we can rest in his promises.
Focus: Today start replacing some of the worldly distractions in your life with the Word of God. Instead of scrolling through social media, binge watching Netflix, or listening to secular music, start replacing those things with an intimate time of prayer, listen to some worship music, or spend some intentional time in your Bible. The amount of time you spend in God’s Word will directly impact your day and equip you to fight off the lies that fear brings.
