Jesus, I Need You Part 6

วันที่ 4 จาก 6

QUIET MOMENT

In the readings today, we will hear Jesus warn those who live according to the ways of the world, those who see themselves as doing right, and those who are falsely comforted by the praise of man. Oh, how vulnerable we all are! Some of us may have even grown up in a Christian home environment and diligently sought to follow Him, but that doesn’t make us immune. We are all very susceptible to sin.

When we are in the church, following the Lord the best we can, we can get caught up in thinking we are all right, that we are better off than others, and that we don’t need much change. We can lose our perspective. Pray fervently today for the Lord to speak to your heart directly as you read His sermon. Ask Him to gently put His finger right where it is most needed.

GOING DEEPER

Again we will read from the Sermon on the Mount, continuing the exercise we began yesterday. Pray first, asking the Lord to help you hear His words and take them to heart. Note what Jesus says about each topic. Then note if you struggle with this. If so, where and how?

Matthew 6:1-4

The NIV translates verse 1 this way: “Be careful not to do your acts of righteousness before men.” What are the acts of righteousness that Jesus is speaking of?

Matthew 6:5-13

Matthew 6:14-15

Matthew 6:16-18

Matthew 6:19-24

Matthew 6:25-32

Matthew 6:33-34

REFLECTION AND PRAYER

As you have listened to Jesus, what areas in your heart has He addressed? Are we afraid to have our eyes opened, to see ourselves as Jesus sees us? Again, go to the Lord in prayer. Praise Him, confess the sin the Lord revealed to you today, thank Him, and ask Him for help, for grace, and for His power and love to overcome.

TAKING THE TRUTH TO HEART AND BRINGING IT TO LIFE

Choose one truth from today and apply it to your heart. Take it with you throughout the day.
