"I Am..." How Jesus Reveals Himselfตัวอย่าง
We have read a lot of “I am...” statements from Jesus. With vivid imagery, He has explained to His hearers who He is and what His work is.
The Jewish religious leaders do not at all like Jesus’ claims. They angrily protest, “You are bearing witness about yourself; your testimony is not true” (verse 13). Jesus explains further that He is sent by the Father who also bears witness about Him, but they don’t want to hear it. And when Jesus says: “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am”, they even try to kill Him on the spot (verses 58-59).
Whenever Jesus claims that He is more than an ordinary human, that He is eternal and sent by God, these people resist Him. His message goes too far for them. They simply don’t accept it.
The severe warning of Jesus is still valid: whoever keeps His word, will never see death (verse 51), but whoever does not believe Him, will die in his sins (verse 24). Which category do you belong to?
