Take The Lid Off 7-Day Reading PlanНамуна
Not long ago, I saw a picture of a turtle on a fence post. The caption under it read, “I didn’t get here by myself.” Being a keen observer of nature, I realized, “Turtles can’t climb.” They’re heavy, slow, and awkward, even on level ground. Someone had to put that turtle high on the fence post.
For the turtle, for me, and for everyone else, building a team of dedicated people is one of the most important things we can do to take the lid off. With them, we have far more energy, creativity, productivity, and fun. Without them, we soon burn out because we work too hard, or we give up and quit because we lose the joy and feel burnout set in.
When we say yes to God, we experience supernatural peace and power. It is amazing that God uses people like us to comfort those who are hurting, to give direction to people who are confused, and to provide resources for those in need. Every week when I stand in the pulpit, I’m amazed when I see God transforming lives by using the word He has given to me to preach. I’m also amazed at the countless acts of kindness and love expressed by our people in their homes, businesses, schools, and neighborhoods. In every place and in every way, God has chosen to use ordinary people to do extraordinary things.
Don’t be surprised when you find your heart troubled by the needs of others. Holy discontent is a sure sign the Spirit of God is at work to give you the heart of Christ. Listen carefully, get your instructions from God, and then trust Him by taking bold steps of faith. Along the way, you’ll encounter resistance. When you trust God to do great things, you’ll try Him and find Him faithful. But He’ll also put you through trials. Don’t panic. It’s normal. Be strong, be determined, and exercise your spiritual muscles. From first to last, draw people around you and build a team of mutual support and encouragement.
Get ready. You’re in for the ride of your life!

About this Plan
Pastor Smokie Norful uses the analogy of a cooking pot with a lid to help readers understand how God can release the pressure in their lives. He looks at different struggles and dreams that Christians have, and he identifies ways that they can "take the lid off" to find peace and fulfillment in God's plan for them.
