Tunisia has strict restrictions on religious freedom. Its economy took a significant hit following the Arab Spring, and its transition to democracy since the uprising is still incomplete and fraught with stress. Measures to draft a new constitution were enacted in 2021. Still, the socioeconomic situation has continued to decline, and the risk of unrest among the populace of 12,000,000 has increased. There have been some advancements in press freedoms since then, but repression is rising again.

Christians in this nation face persecution from both family and community members, jeopardizing their employment and social standing and attracting pressure from authorities. Because persecution has intensified since the revolution, several church leaders have been prompted to flee the country. Their absence has made evangelism and discipleship increasingly challenging, but the Church is growing underground. The Gospel has become an alternative to the nation’s instability and speaks to the younger generation.

Prayer Points to Consider:

• Pray for Christians in Tunisia to be strengthened and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Ask for the provisions they need, protection from hostilities, and supernatural favor.
• Pray for church leaders to be wise but emboldened to lead their churches and fellowships deeper into God’s Word, that its life-breath brings restoration to their lives personally, their families, and communities.
• Ask Father for more laborers to be sent into the harvest from all parts of the world. Ask for harmony and fruit among Tunisia’s workers and give them creative avenues to share their lives and faith through businesses, art, language learning, and service.
• Pray for stability in the government, asking for freedom in every sector so that God's new thing can spring forth and be sustained.
• Ask for the Holy Spirit’s outpouring to cause a holy discontent in the hearts of those disillusioned by their circumstances, religion, or future. Pray that a deep hunger be stirred for the reality and truth of Jesus among unbelievers, leading them to Spirit-filled believers or divine encounters.

Dear Lord Jesus...I take a few moments now to quiet my heart before You ________ (take time to do this). I pray that You bring new life to Tunisia, where some of the first Christians lived. Please bring harmony among believers— foreign and local—so the Gospel can move through this nation where 99% of the people are unreached. In Your Almighty Name, Jesus, I speak Your covering and protection for Tunisia’s Christians, binding every work of darkness and releasing supernatural favor in their workplaces, families, and the government. I ask for more bold and courageous field workers to come, having Your wisdom for safely sharing Your Word. And I pray for the new workers in the nation who are doing new things to advance the Gospel. Please help them partner with the underground church and reap the harvest You are preparing. Amen!
