More Than Just a Story - the Book of JohnНамуна

Jesus had performed so many miracles—healing the sick, healing the blind, even raising the dead—yet many still didn’t believe in Him. They had seen the evidence with their own eyes, but their hearts remained closed.
John tells us that this wasn’t a surprise to God. It had been said long ago that people would reject Jesus as the Messiah. It wasn’t that they couldn’t believe, but rather that they wouldn’t. Their hearts had grown hard, and they chose the approval of people over the approval of God.
Even today, many struggle with unbelief—not because there isn’t enough proof of who Jesus is, but because trusting Him requires surrender. It means letting go of our pride, our fear, and our need for control. Oof, This hits home for me... Surrender is hard. I feel better when I have control...
Jesus made it clear that He didn’t come to judge the world but to save it. His heart is always for people, for you, for me, even when we reject Him. But He also warned that ignoring His words has consequences. The truth of Jesus will still stand, and one day, everyone will have to acknowledge it.
The question for us is: Will we believe? Not just as a conclusion of facts in our minds but in a relational way that changes our lives?
Faith isn’t about having all the answers, or doing all the right things; it’s about trusting Jesus in the midst of it all. It’s about choosing to follow Him even when the world pressures us to walk away.
Jesus said, “I have come as a light to shine in this dark world, so that all who put their trust in me will no longer remain in the dark.” (John 12:46)
The choice is ours. Do we cling to the temporary approval of people, or do we choose the life Jesus offers, the life that lasts?
Are there areas in your life where you struggle to fully trust Jesus? What’s holding you back?
Do you ever feel pressured to seek approval from people rather than God? what is one thing you can remind yourself of to shift your focus back to Him?
