DAY 15 OF 56

With Jesus 15 + 2 = 5000 remainder 12

Jesus performs yet another miracle at the Sea of Galilee, the feeding of the 5,000 men (not including women and children). It is the only miracle recorded in all four eye witness accounts in the new testament!

Already knowing there would be enough, Jesus asked Philip where they should buy bread for the crowd. Philip replied that it would take eight months’ wages to buy enough for everyone. Then Andrew, one of Jesus’ disciples, pointed out a little boy with five loaves of bread and two fish. Jesus took the fish and bread, gave thanks, and distributed them to the 5,000—leaving plenty left over (Twelve baskets left over)

This miracle is so relatable because it reminds us that when we feel we aren’t enough or don’t have enough, God always provides more than we could ever ask or imagine. While the miracle itself is incredible, we must also recognize the faith of Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. He is often a man working behind the scenes, someone who facilitates introductions by putting people in the path of another. He directs attention to others, not himself. Here, he directs Jesus to the boy and his lunch. Andrew could have taken charge himself, but instead, he alerts Jesus to the boy’s presence, allowing Jesus to interact with him directly.

When was the last time you prayed for God to provide enough?
Has God played the role of Andrew in your life, introducing you to someone who led you to Jesus?
Has He placed you in a behind-the-scenes role, helping someone else find their way to Him?
At different seasons of I think we have both. Will we say yes?
