God's Redemption Story (Revelation)

DAY 13 OF 40

We Don’t Know the Day or Hour - Day 13

Do you remember the fear surrounding Y2K and 2012? Maybe you‘ve heard televangelists or famous Christian authors make specific predictions about the exact date of the return of Christ. Today, all the major social media platforms are filled with individuals who have made their money and gained their following by making specific predictions regarding the end times. Typically, these content creators do not speak from a place of hope and excitement for Christ's return. Instead, they sow seeds of fear and dread in their followers. More importantly, those who claim to know the exact date of Christ's return are speaking in direct opposition to Scripture. The Bible tells us that not even Jesus knows the day or the hour. If this is true, why do we allow ourselves to be frightened by foolish people who believe they know more than Jesus? People may spend years mapping out elaborate timelines and charts, but none of us know the day or the hour. In fact, none of us need to know. We are simply called to live in a way that embraces both the reality and the imminence of Jesus's return.
