Ignite Your Motherhood: 5 Days to Break Free From Mom Guilt and Live With Intention a 5 - Day Plan by Belinda MerrinНамуна
Rediscover Your Purpose
Motherhood can sometimes make you lose sight of the woman you once were. But what if this season is meant to reveal an even deeper purpose?
Somewhere in between the diaper changes, sleepless nights, and loads of laundry, I lost sight of myself and my purpose. I remember feeling like everything around me was changing and progressing except me. Life became mundane, and I struggled to find meaningful moments in it. Until one day, as I read one of my favorite verses, God made it clear. Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” You see, I had applied this verse in other areas of my life, as a high school student, as I pursued my Nursing degree, and even as a wife. But I had not applied this verse as a mom.
Motherhood has a way of transforming every part of us, but while caring for others, we can sometimes lose sight of the woman God created us to be. Perhaps you’re feeling this way today and are longing to rediscover your purpose. What if you are exactly where God planned you would be? What if you are fulfilling your purpose in this season of diapers and baby bottles, kid pick-up and drop-off lines, and loads of laundry? Ephesians 2:10 reminds us, "we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.” Did you catch it? God prepared in advance for us.
God predestined you for this season and desires for you to rely on Him every step of the way. Here’s how you can do that:
- Start by setting aside time daily to hear from God and meditate on His promises.
- Take time to prayerfully consider your God-given, unique talents, abilities, and strengths and how you can use them to fulfill your role as a mother, nurturing your children and impacting their lives.
- Surrender your desire to return to the woman you once were and embrace the woman, mother, and beloved daughter of the King you are now and will continue to become.
Reflect: How has motherhood shaped or changed your sense of purpose, and how can you embrace this new chapter while staying rooted in God’s calling for you?
Prayer: Father, I find my identity in You and ask You to help me fulfill Your purpose for me in this season of motherhood.
