Pause and Pray: 9 Days of the Fruit of the SpiritНамуна
Let’s Share Jesus’ Joy
In today’s world, with turmoil and chaos and confusion every way we turn, pursuing joy sometimes seems purposeless. It seems like a yo-yo life: we pursue joy only to be blindsided by despair before then pursuing joy once again just to be blindsided again. After a while, it gets wearisome, and our vitality is diminished.
That’s the vicious circle we live when we depend on others instead of Jesus for our joy. People let us down and bring disappointment. No one is perfect as we all have flaws from past hurts and experiences, but pinning our expectations on others is not what we should do. When we rely on Jesus, our source of strength, then our joy does not depend on others or circumstances, and we can better maintain a spirit of joy through the storms of life. When Jesus’ joy fills our lives in all circumstances, then we can demonstrate this joy for everyone we encounter.
Today’s color of the day is blue. Whenever you see something blue, find a way to share Jesus’ joy with someone around you. Consider smiling to your neighbor or the cashier at the store. And then at 1:11 p.m., pause and pray with believers around the world, thanking God for the joy he has given you.
Jesus of joy, we pray for a deeper dependence on you as our confidant and best friend to turn to when we need your joy. You will never let us down.

About this Plan
Because of our overscheduled lives, many Christians relish God’s Word on Sunday but struggle to find time to walk with Jesus throughout the week. In these nine devotions, Bobbie Cox offers practical reminders to cultivate the fruit of the Spirit, encouraging you to reflect Jesus’ character every day. One small change today can become a habit that will extend Jesus’ hope to everyone around you.
