The Windshield

DAY 1 OF 5

Day 1 The World Outside Your Truck

Many truckers spend their nights in their trucks, making them their home away from home. That’s why you’ll often see trucks decorated with curtains, window ornaments, lights, flags—you name it. Their truck is their safe haven, especially at night when they’re parked on a lot or alone at an abandoned industrial site, with no way of knowing what’s happening around their truck or cargo. Most nights, nothing happens, but parking lots and isolated industrial areas can be hotspots for drug deals, illegal activity, refugees sneaking into the cargo, theft, or worse. So when the curtains are pulled open in the morning and nothing has happened, it’s already a good start to the day.

I often park in these places, and I’ve experienced some of these situations myself. That’s why each morning, I thank Him for His protective hand over me during the night. I usually begin my day by reading a passage from His Word. Then, I start the engine and begin my day with joy, trusting that God will use me once again for His service.

You can rest assured that God commands His angels to watch over you while you’re asleep in your truck. No matter what’s happening outside, He cares for those who fear Him. The next day, you can look through your windshield, keep your eyes on the Way, and trust that He will guide you.

But let’s go back to those dark nights in the sleeper cab of your truck on the parking lot. In those moments—when you feel uneasy, afraid, uncertain, or doubtful—fix your gaze on Jesus. Pray, read, sing, or call a brother or sister in Christ, or even a colleague from TruckPlus.org. Just remember: you are safe in His hands.

David says in Psalm 56:11: “I trust in God; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?” And in Isaiah 41:10, God says to Jacob: “Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

In this passage, God reveals to Jacob His greatness and power. If you read the entire chapter, you’ll see that Jacob sinned—like deceiving his father Isaac by pretending to be Esau. Time and again, Jacob tried to follow his own plans, until he wrestled with God (or an angel), and his hip was touched. From that moment on, he had learned to rely on God.

Do you recognize this pattern in your own life? You go to church, sing in the choir, play in the band, or serve in some role within your congregation—but your relationship with Jesus is missing true spiritual value and authenticity. Maybe you’re holding something back. You think your spiritual life is going fine, but you haven’t fully surrendered control to God. You still want to steer your life in a certain direction that seems comfortable or just in your own eyes, just like Jacob.

So from today on, rest in the sovereignty of God. That means the wheel of your life is not in your hands, but Jesus’ hands. Let Him lead, and follow Him as you look through the windshield of your life. Don’t delay. Faith is not just believing—it’s living it out.

I wish you a safe journey and God’s blessing.
