Philippians Pt. 1Намуна
Welcome to Day 3! Yesterday, we reflected on what it means to live as citizens of heaven, staying heavenly minded even amidst life’s distractions. Today, we take a closer look at one of Paul’s most beloved verses in Philippians 1:6:“He who began a good work in you will carry it to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Paul uses the Greek wordEnarchesthai to describe God’s work in us. This word isn’t just about beginning something—it’s specifically tied to the start of a sacrifice. Paul reminds the Philippians (and us) that when we give our lives to Jesus, we are placed on the altar, set apart as holy sacrifices. Yet, like any living sacrifice, we often try to crawl off the altar when things get hard.
But here’s the good news: the work of remaining on that altar isn’t something we do alone. The God who began this work in us is faithful to complete it. Today, as we explore this powerful truth, let’s reflect on how we can surrender to God’s strength rather than relying on our own.
We’re grateful you’ve taken the time to reflect on Philippians with us today. As you spend time in prayer, consider this question:
What areas of my life am I still trying to control instead of trusting God to complete His work in me?
May the Holy Spirit give you the courage to surrender and stay on the altar. We’ll see you tomorrow as we continue our study!
