What a Jesus!Намуна
Our Eager Savior
I recently realized that the Bible is the biggest spoiler of any book ever. Instead of making us live the tension of good vs. evil, our Father spoiled the ending of our story on the very first page where our problems began.
You might be familiar with the fall into sin when Adam and Eve doubted God and ate the forbidden fruit (Genesis 3:1-7). But did you notice how long it took God to tell us how our battle vs. evil would end? God didn’t wait 2,000 pages until the book of Revelation or 1,500 pages until the birth of Jesus. In fact, he didn’t even wait a day!
On the same page where sin entered the world, God promised a Savior. Just verses after the fall, God looked Satan in the eye and said, “He will crush your head” (Genesis 3:15). The One Adam and Eve knew as “he,” and the One the Old Testament saints called the Messiah, is the One we know as Jesus. He came into the world, resisted every evil, and crushed the devil by dying on the cross.
The world is so messed up — the headlines, the heartaches — and we are so messed up — our struggles, our sins — but we know how the story ends. We don’t have to hold our breath. We don’t have to worry about where things are going. We know who sits on the glorious throne and who is crushed and thrown into a lake of fire. Don’t worry for a single second. In the end, Jesus (and his people) win!
