God Really Loves Us

Think about your best friend. What are some qualities that come to mind when you think about them? Maybe they are caring, they are a good listener, they make you feel happy and safe. Maybe they are always there for you when you feel sad, and there to celebrate when something amazing happens? What makes them your best friend?

Did you know that Jesus also wants to be your friend forever? When Jesus walked the earth 2000 years ago, He had 12 really close friends, that we call the disciples. One day, Jesus was telling them that He would soon go to the cross, to die for their sins and ours, and be raised again. They were upset! They did not want to lose their friend. He was giving them instructions on what to do next, and He says in John 15, “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (v 12-13)

He would later go on to demonstrate His love for His friends, and for us, by doing just that. He would die on the cross and be raised from the dead after 3 days so that when we believe in Him, we would have eternal life; we can be in God’s family forever.

In the song, “God Really Loves Us”, we praise God for that! His love for us!

What a Savior He is

God as a Father, sent His only son to live and walk the earth and to teach us, so that we would know the way to Him! He gave us His son because He loves us so much!

Jesus is the best example of a best friend; He laid down His life for all of us! He knew us and loved us before we were even born. Being a great friend, He made a way for us to know God and to also call Him Father and Friend.

He saved us! Sin, the thing that separates us from a perfect God, does not just make us bad, it makes us dead. There was a gap that needed to be filled for us to have a relationship with Him, and Jesus filled that gap! He saved us from our sins so that when we believe in Him we receive the gift of life!

God loves us first, that’s why we can loudly sing that it’s true - God REALLY loves us!
