Seeing Jesus changes everything
Read Luke 24:13–35.
After Jesus’ death and resurrection, two followers of Jesus talked as they walked on the road to Emmaus. They were shaken by the events of the previous few days and the Bible says they “talked and discussed” together about what they had experienced (verse 15).
We are the same today. When difficulties happen in our life we go over and over them with our natural understanding. We talk to our friends about it or think things over in our mind.
Sometimes life does not make sense at all. Sometimes painful memories never go away and it’s hard to see the way forward.
For these two followers of Jesus there came the moment when their physical and spiritual eyes were opened (verse 31). “Then their eyes were opened and they knew Him.”
They knew all the details of the events that had just happened but they had not been able to know or recognize God at work in the midst of it all when it was happening.
God is at work in our lives but it’s often hard for us to see what He is doing. The Bible shows us that God was with them.
“So it was, while they conversed and reasoned, that Jesus Himself drew near and went with them.” Luke 24:15 NKJV
Today as you read or listen to God’s Word, pray that God shows you what he wants to do in your life.
Prayer
