DAY 6 OF 7

God provides for all our needs. Ask for what you need.

Matthew 7:7-11 makes us a surprising promise. This is what it says…

Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks, receives. Everyone who seeks finds. And to everyone who knocks, the door will be opened. You parents—if your children ask for a loaf of bread, do you give them a stone instead? Or if they ask for a fish, do you give them a snake? Of course not! So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him. (NLT)

God is the best Father! He’s delighted when we look to Him to fill all our needs. We don’t always get what we want, but we get what God knows is best for us.

I’ll never forget the time my dad invited me on a Christian mission. It was a trip to Kingston, Jamaica, where he was serving. I wasn’t interested in a Christian mission at that time, but a trip to Jamaica? That didn’t sound too bad.

I wanted beaches and beer but my dad had a much better idea of what I really needed. He knew that I needed to be around people who deeply loved God—to see that following Jesus leads to true fulfillment.

It changed my life.

These are the kind of gifts our heavenly Father loves to give us! Gifts that nourish us, heal us, guide us, and ultimately lead us closer to Jesus. Ask Him for what you need, and He will provide for you.

When you are in trouble, or afraid, where do you go for help? Maybe you have a close friend or relative you can call on. What a gift! But what about when those people can’t help you? What happens when they don’t know what to do or aren’t available?

When you lack anything, call on the One who always has the desire AND the power to help and provide for you.

We can rely on His abundance of love, His power, and His generosity.

He hears and answers our prayers faithfully. Ask for what you need today and see how He responds.

Let’s pray…

God, I trust that You are the one who is willing and able to help me. I need You. You know what’s best for me. Good Father, come and provide for me today. Thank You, God. Amen.
