God has a good plan for you. Ask God for His will.
What plans have you made for yourself?
I am so grateful, I grew up in a safe, Christian environment, but some part of me was always waiting for that bubble to burst, so I could finally start really “living.”
When it did burst, I took my new freedom by the neck and I wrung the life out of it.
I spent years of my young life on drinking, and destructive recklessness—things I hoped would make me feel alive. But they only led to spiritual death.
Often, we make plans that we think will bring about happiness. We try to find joy by satisfying our own desires. But the sad reality is, much of the time, it just brings destruction, and an emptiness instead.
The Bible says that God has a plan for our lives. The plans He makes are so much better than the plans we make for ourselves. We can decide to live on His terms, instead of trying to be Lord our own lives.
True—there’s no way for us to know what tomorrow brings, and that’s a little scary. But you can be sure that God knows!
Jeremiah 29:11 says…
“For I know the plans I have for you,” says the Lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.” (NLT)
God has a good plan for your life.
He knows what’s best for you even when you don’t.
He will not fail you. He will not let you down.
You are in His capable hands.
Even if things haven’t turned out the way you wanted…
You belong to God, so your future is filled with hope!
When you look at the world around you, do you think, “Wow, this is just like being in Heaven—everything is perfect”?
No.
This world is dark and confusing.
And yet, in Matthew 6:9-13 God tells us to pray for His will to be done on earth, just as in Heaven.
Imagine if your life began to look like Heaven, where His will is done all the time! True, we won’t ever have perfect lives on this side of eternity, but we can have more of God’s will.
His will is for us to receive His love, love Him, and love others.
Ask for His perfect plans to become your reality. He’s faithful to answer.
When Jesus’ disciples asked Him how to pray, He gave them a simple yet powerful example. And it’s part of today’s reading. As you read or listen to the scriptures, let Jesus’s prayer become your own.
God, may Your kingdom come and Your will be done on earth as it is in Heaven.
Amen.
