All Who Are Weary: God Is My DelivererНамуна
God is My Deliverer
The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer,
my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
-Psalm 18:2
We like to know when things are going to get better, and how. Will our brain ever think straight again? Will we ever get past picturing the worst-case scenario? And when we don’t have a timeframe or a laid out plan on where things are going, the unknown gets to us and it seems like the walls of our world are collapsing in.
We want someone to save us, take away our racing thoughts, still our swirling minds, and slow our frantic bodies. We long for the assurance that things are being taken care of and this anxiety will not last.
God is our deliver. He fights for us; He comes to our rescue and is over all things, including our anxiety. There is no hole dark enough where He will not go with us. God is there, and He has all authority over the enemy. He tells him when it’s enough. God is as tender as He is tenacious, and He will not let any lasting harm come upon His children.
He sends you encouragement through a song, through a Bible verse you happen to read, in a loving word spoken by a dear friend or family member. He never takes His eyes off of you, and He reminds us again and again in His Word that He is mighty to save. His deliverance is guaranteed; of this we can be certain.
Remember: God is my deliverer.
