We’re The Church

DAY 2 OF 8

The Church is everyone who follows Jesus.

Have you ever played catch? It seems like a pretty simple game—you throw and catch a ball. But there is actually a lot more to it than you may think. Your fingers have to grip the ball. Your arm has to swing back. Your elbow has to bend. Your shoulder has to push your arm forward. Your eyes have to focus on where you are throwing. Your fingers have to let go of the ball at just the right time.

What would happen if one of those things didn’t happen? You couldn’t throw the ball!

That’s what God’s Church is like. Everyone who follows Jesus is a part of His body. We have very important roles. When we get together and everyone does the job God has for them, God’s Church works the way He made it to.

Sadly, when we don’t obey what God calls us to do, there are jobs not getting done. His church won’t work well that way. Let’s work together as the body of Christ by using what we have and what God made us good at to show God’s love to the world and make disciples!

Watch the video and draw a Bible Doodle to help you memorize 1 Corinthians 12:27 and remember that you are a part of Jesus Christ’s body and have a specific (and important) job to do.

Bible Doodle

  1. Get a piece of paper and something to draw with.
  2. Write the whole verse of 1 Corinthians 12:27 on the paper.
  3. Think about the verse.
  4. Draw what the verse makes you think about.
  5. Share your picture with friends and family.

Talk It Over: What are you good at? How can you work together with others to show God’s love to the world?

About this Plan

We’re The Church

God uses His Church to change the world. His Church isn’t a building—it’s everyone who follows Jesus! Find out how God can use you to change the world! For Parents: Your child will have a deeper understanding of each day’s reading and questions if you complete this Bible Plan with them. This plan includes several games to play for verse memorization. You may want to supervise use of materials.
