What Jesus Said About Making Disciples

DAY 1 OF 9

Suggestion

1. Ask three friends to do this study with you. (Men and women are in separate groups of 4 each.)

2. Everybody does the study on their own.

3. When all 4 finished the study, meet and discuss what you have discovered.

4. It is of utmost importance to move from information to obedience. Studying the Bible gives information and revelation. Obedience is the practical application. Discuss how to apply what you have discovered.

5. This is study No.7 in the series. Consider doing all 25 studies in this series.

6. Can you think of people who may benefit from these studies? Contact them. Encourage them to gather four people and do this series of Bible Studies.

7. These Bible studies will help you grow as a disciple and a disciple-maker, giving you practical guidelines to lead others to the Lord and make them disciples and disciple-makers.

What Jesus said about making disciples

Scripture passage: Matthew 28:16-20

To study the passage, you can ask the following three questions:

1. What do I learn about God from this passage? (How is God revealing Himself to us in this passage: His character, works, commands, and promises?)

2. What do I learn about myself or people from this passage? (What is God expecting from me? What needs to change in my life? What are my responsibilities?).

3. How can I apply and integrate these truths in my life? (How must I obey God? How can I be a blessing to other people? What and for whom can I pray from this passage?).

Information to obedience: After studying Matthew 28:16-20, what do you sense the Holy Spirit is saying and asking you to do? Because it is God speaking here, you have to respond. After studying the passage, you must transition from information to obedience: What must change in your life? Is there something that you sense – in the light of our discussion and this Scripture passage - you need to do in the coming week? How can you be a blessing to other people around you? Be very specific.

About this Plan

What Jesus Said About Making Disciples

Jesus took 12 men, and for three years, He made them disciples and prepared them for the task He had in mind for them. After three years, with his ascension, Jesus said: “Go and make disciples.” He was actually saying to them: “Go and do the same as what I did.”
