NIV Once-A-Day Bible for WomenНамуна
Matthew 5:1–12
We often read the Beatitudes as blessings on those who are spiritual superheroes—those who are able to reach the highest degrees of humility and brokenness and spiritual hunger. But most of these attitudes are not something to strive for. In fact, many of them describe the weaknesses, insecurities and longings we all have deep inside our core. The blessings are for those of us who can strip away the facades, acknowledge our spiritual poverty and connect with the true heart God has put within us. This is how we become truly happy—that’s what “blessed” means. We can find genuine peace and deep joy in God.
