Ingredients for an Anointed LifeНамуна
Ingredient 4. Cassia - Purity
There are many different kinds of Cassia, but the kind referred to here is known as Cassia Senna. While it was used for many things, one of its primary uses was to purify the body of toxins. In the same way, God is looking for purity in us.
Purity isn't about living a perfect life. It is about endeavoring to stay clean through confession. Cassia had to be ingested to work, so just like the Psalmist prayed, "Search me, cleanse me," we have to open our mouths, confess where we've fallen short, and let God cleanse us from the inside out.
Holding in our shame, our guilt, our worries, or our failures is like poison for our souls. However, we don't just need to confess it to God, as scripture says it's when we confess our sins to one another that we can be healed.
Confession isn't simply letting something out. It's also inviting power in; the cleansing power of God.
The purpose of a detox isn't so we can return to what caused the problem in the first place. The point of the cleansing is so we can get back on the right track when we've strayed.
So, if we want to walk in the anointing, our purity matters. We need to clean up the outside, but we also need to be purified from the inside.
Questions for reflection.
Is confession an easy thing or a difficult thing for you? Do you have a trusted friend or mentor you can confess to? What are some things in your life you need to detox from?
