Ingredients for an Anointed LifeНамуна
Anointing involves the power of God. If you want God’s power in your life, then you want God's anointing on your life. Throughout the Bible, oil is seen as a symbol of the Holy Spirit. Anointing with oil took place regularly as a ritual act to set apart those people and places selected for God’s special purpose. Kings, prophets, and priests were all anointed with oil to symbolize the Spirit of the Lord coming upon them with power and authority.
In 1st Samuel, When God tells Samuel to go "anoint for me the one I indicate,” we learn that the anointing comes from God. It’s different from your gifting and it’s not something you can manufacture.
In the book of Exodus, we discover the recipe and instructions to make holy anointing oil. It was made up of five specific ingredients. Each of these ingredients had practical purposes and uses, but they also represented God’s power, protection, and favor. That's why when we think of the anointing, we recognize it as the difference between the best we can do on our own and the best God can do when He has His hand over our lives. So, let's look at what each of the anointing oil ingredients represents and how we must have these same ingredients in our lives for God's anointing to be present.
Questions for reflection.
Have you ever considered the difference between your gifting and your anointing? Do you think the anointing is just for people working in ministry or can people be anointed for purposes other than ministry? What do you think God's anointing would look like in your life?
