The Promise of Christmas

DAY 20 OF 20

Jesus made a lot of claims about who He was on Earth. The Son of God. A healer of sickness. A worker of miracles. A Savior of the world. The way, the truth, and the life. The only way for us to be close to God our Father again. Pretty bold statements, huh? What’s even more interesting is that Jesus didn’t just say these things about Himself. He backed every single one of them up with action. He proved He was who He said He was by living it all out for us, from birth to death to life again. When we celebrate Jesus’ birth during the Christmas season, we’re celebrating so much more than the birth of a baby. We’re celebrating the arrival of the way, the truth, and the life. The path back to God our Father. The hope of our hearts.

Make a list of the things you know Jesus has said about Himself. If you need some help, read His words in any of the four gospels: Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Keep that list in mind as you move through the Christmas season. Let it be the reminder of not just what you’re celebrating but who you’re celebrating this year.

About this Plan

The Promise of Christmas

The birth of Jesus isn’t just a great story; it’s a real event that shows us not just how God loves us but how God’s people (just like us) had to learn to trust in the face of incredibly difficult and, at times, unbelievable circumstances. We’ll be reminded of the humanity in the story and the faith it takes to believe in the promise of Christmas!
