The Promise of Christmas

DAY 17 OF 20

One of the best things about Christmas is the way it brings out the best qualities in us (at least we hope it does!). The generosity of spirit, the kindness of heart, the compassion for those in need—it all shows up a little easier during the holiday season. But wouldn’t it be great if those things—the kindness, care, and compassion that mark the Christmas season—could last beyond the holiday? Well, while life may look different as Christmas ends each year, the things the season represents can remain alive in us. Jesus came to bring us faith, hope, and love—the very things Paul talks about here in this verse. And because of Jesus, those things can be a part of our lives in any season and at any time.

This week, write this verse down. Then, place it somewhere you will see it often. Let it serve as a reminder of the things Jesus came to give us at Christmas. Then, leave it up after the season ends to help you remember that you always have access to faith, hope, and love in Christ. You can put those things on display in your life long after December is done!

About this Plan

The Promise of Christmas

The birth of Jesus isn’t just a great story; it’s a real event that shows us not just how God loves us but how God’s people (just like us) had to learn to trust in the face of incredibly difficult and, at times, unbelievable circumstances. We’ll be reminded of the humanity in the story and the faith it takes to believe in the promise of Christmas!
