Every Woman's Story: Peace

DAY 7 OF 7

How hard do I try for peace?

My very first boss was new to her position and was bent on exerting her authority. We did not get off on the right foot. I sometimes wondered if we were speaking the same language. We had multiple miscommunications. It was a challenging job, especially right out of college.

Yet, I knew my responsibility was to do my job well and not cause problems. It required a bending of my will and a decision to, well, try to live in peace with her. Over and over again. Sometimes, it was exhausting.

By the time she left, we had finally settled into a respectful working relationship. It was worth the effort, not just for her and me but for everyone around us. I did what I could and will never regret how hard I worked to live in peace with her.

Act

Who do you need to work on having peace with? Decide today that, with God’s help, it’s possible.

Pray

God, this can be so hard to do, but our daily lives are impacted by our decision to live in peace. Give me strength to repeatedly make this decision.

About this Plan

Every Woman's Story: Peace

When life gets to be too much, we start scrambling for peace. We look for something, anything, that will stop the feeling of being overwhelmed. We often look for peace in the wrong places. It never lasts. Most of it does harm. God isn’t stingy with peace. Like a cool sip of water on a hot day, he will refresh us amid the overwhelming and the hard.
