Fast Friends, Biblical Results Of Fasting And Prayer

DAY 5 OF 10

ESTHER'S LIFE OR DEATH FAST

A plot was afoot by Haman, second in command to King Xerxes, to assasinate the Jews. Haman was not aware that Esther, recently chosen to be queen by the king, was of Jewish heritage. Esther's cousin Mordecai had the tragic news delivered to Esther and asked her to go to the King and plead for her people. Esther knew that to go before the King without being summoned could carry with it a death sentence. Mordecai persuaded her that she had come to the kingdom for such a time as this. Esther agreed on one condition: that all the Jews join her and her attendants in a three day fast to ask God for favor with the King.

Esther knew the power of praying and fasting together and believed that God would answer. However, she was prepared to perish if that was God's will. God did answer and the evil Haman was the one who was destroyed and the Jews lived. Once again, as people prayed and fasted together, God was faithful to answer and saved His people from destruction!

Esther and the Jews petitioned God through fasting and prayer and He saved their entire nation. Will you fast and pray for God's answers on your life?

About this Plan

Fast Friends, Biblical Results Of Fasting And Prayer

We all know that there is power in prayer. Prayer is defined in several ways: it is how we praise and worship our glorious Lord and Savior; it is our most powerful weapon; our open door to communication with the living God; the vehicle to confess our sin; how to find God's will for our lives and one of the ways we can hear the voice of our precious Savior. It is not very often that we hear about fasting with prayer, either from the pulpit or in our conversations as a church community. Yet, the Bible has so much to say on this subject and so many wonderful accounts of deliverance, forgiveness, and miracles that happened when God's people did fast and pray together. This ten-day reading plan will focus on some of the Biblical accounts and show us the undeniable power and movement of God when His people humble themselves through fasting and prayer.
