Jesus’ Resurrection!
We have made it all the way through Holy Week, celebrating that there is HOPE in every single day!
On Resurrection Sunday (or Easter), we reach the apex of Holy Week. The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the most important event of our faith! The very foundation of all true Christianity hinges on the truth of this account, and I believe every word of it is true!
Early Sunday morning, several women (Mary Magdalene, Joanna, Salome, and Mary the mother of James) went to the tomb and discovered that the large stone had been rolled away. An angel announced the hope of the world!
"Don't be afraid! I know you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He isn't here! He is risen from the dead, just as he said would happen." (Matthew 28:5-6,NIV)
Jesus is alive, and hope is real! Death has been swallowed up in victory! Jesus triumphed over death and the cross! Jesus made a way for you and me to come to the Father and be saved! It’s true. The gospel is true, and It’s a miracle!
One of my favorite parts of the Resurrection story is what happens during the day. Yes, I love that Jesus came back to life but I also love how He celebrates the resurrection – with His people! Aren’t you glad that you are one of His people today? I am!
On the day of His resurrection, Jesus Christ made at least five appearances. Mark's Gospel says the first person to see Him was Mary Magdalene. Jesus also appeared to Peter, to the two disciples on the road to Emmaus, and later that day to all of the disciples (except Thomas) while they were gathered in a house for prayer.
Jesus showed up! When His friends needed Him the most, Jesus miraculously appears. When Jesus does, lives are changed and so is history! The eyewitness accounts in the Gospels provide undeniable evidence that the resurrection of Jesus Christ happened! Two thousand years after His death, followers of Jesus still flock to Jerusalem to see the empty tomb. I am so excited to be going to Jerusalem this Fall and I can’t wait to shout – He is Risen!
Take a moment and sit in the wonder and the belief – Jesus IS alive and He did it ALL for you! What a miracle! Thank Jesus for all that He has done. Thank Him for your salvation. Thank Him for your life and your opportunity to see His miracles every single day.
You are one of those miracles and you serve a risen Savior!
