Resting In Jesus
Welcome to Wednesday of Holy Week!
I am honored to spend this time with you today.
The Bible doesn't exactly say what the Lord did on the Wednesday of Passion Week. Some people speculate that after two exhausting days in Jerusalem, Jesus and His disciples spent this day resting in Bethany in anticipation of Passover.
I love that thought...Jesus was resting. The God of the Universe, with limitless strength available to Him, fully embraced His humanity and rested. Jesus knew that there were difficult days ahead, so He stepped away and prepared by resting.
Are you resting in Jesus right now? Jesus invited you to do exactly that in Matthew 11:
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30, NIV)
Are you carrying burdens that you need to lay down? If you are feeling a weight, Jesus invites you to bring every care and concern to Him in exchange for a yoke that is easy and light.
Take a moment and lay your burdens down. Hand them, one by one, over to the care and power of Jesus. You can do it! Make the miraculous exchange right now.
Will you allow me to pray for you?
“Jesus, I pray over my friends right now, and ask you that you would give them the wisdom and the strength to hand over their burdens to You. Jesus, strengthen my friends with the hope that there is rest for them even in the middle of trying and challenging life moments. Remind them that you are near and that you hear the cry of their hearts. I thank You for Your love for us all. Amen.”
I need to remind you what happened in Bethany before this day of rest: Jesus revealed to the whole world that He had power over death by raising Lazarus from the grave! After seeing this incredible miracle, many people in Bethany believed that Jesus was the Son of God and put their faith in Him.
Put your faith in Jesus once again. Trust Him to do the miraculous in your life. Believe in Him to breathe new life into your weary soul. He can and He will!!!
You are a Miracle!
