Real Hope: A Call to Courage

DAY 2 OF 6

The Beautiful And Wild Unknown

Sometimes it’s scary to trust God. Personally, I like to know all the details of a plan – who, what, where and when. The more detail, the better. But God doesn’t operate that way. He’s more of a ‘come along and I’ll tell you the details later’ kind of God. Which makes it hard to say yes to God sometimes because saying yes without knowing the details takes courage. A lot of courage.

Someone who lived with courage in the Bible is Isaiah. A mighty man of God, when God asked who He could send on His behalf, Isaiah instantly said yes. He didn’t know the details like where he’d be going or what he’d be doing. He knew nothing of the plan. But he knew who was asking him to go. Isaiah knew his God. He knew God’s heart and character. Did it take courage to say yes without knowing the detail? Absolutely, but he knew God could be trusted and that was enough for him. And we need the courage to be the same.

God will ask us to go with Him into the unknown. He will ask us to step out in faith into the fog, not knowing where the next step is. But like Isaiah, when we know God intimately, when we know His heart for us and His character, we can trust Him to lead us well. We can trust Him to keep a firm grip on our hand as we walk across the waters of the unknown. And we can be confident that wherever we go and whatever we face, He will be with us.

I pray that as God calls us into His beautiful and wild will, we will find courage in Him to say yes.

About this Plan

Real Hope: A Call to Courage

As Christians, we are called to courage. To face circumstances and situations that are uncertain, maybe painful and possibly surrounded by fear. But the amazing thing is, we do not do this alone, and we do not take the step of courage ill-equipped. We can step with confidence trusting that God has already triumphed. In this plan, we explore courage and the faithfulness of God.
